One hot summer day, the flying ants taking flight, Merijn Landuyt wrote a song that he could not sing alone. He called up Koen Eeckhout, his fellow trumpeter from a former Balkan brassband. They traveled across the country singing until in winter, when the thin air sharpens everything, they noticed a harmonic shortfall. Koen called up Johannes Wannyn, with whom he had once worn short trousers. Johannes packed his guitar and banjo and that same day the Ghent winter air was filled with unheard purple vibrations.

The trio played and sang for years until the country was locked down. They recorded a hopeful album with songs about mice and messiahs (Pockets Full Of Change). The world storm subsided, children were born, loves were lost, instruments were sold, the three voices each sang their own song, the purple vibrations dissipated.

But with the next flight of the ants, Merijn, Koen and Johannes found each other again, high up in the air, whirling and dancing, melodically tumbling over each other and whizzing up and down in parallel thirds. Children grow up, love conquers, the remaining instruments are tuned and the Ghent air once again vibrates with the singing of People in Houses.

2025 brings us 'here we are', a new album by three songwriters, three singers, three multi-instrumentalists. Three pairs of eyes and ears that view the world and three pairs of hands that weave stories. And above all, an album with many lives, with songs that spread their wings again and again and take you on a wild musical flight!
